$100 Giveaway. Spa Girls on the Road 2014

Spa Girls on the Road 2014.  Where should we go next?  We’re having another $100 giveaway because we need ideas.

When I started nursing school I said to the girls (employees) at I.M. Spa, “We should go on a trip to celebrate the business (and me) surviving the semester.  Where do you want to go?  And that’s how we ended up going to Dallas to visit Cosmic Cafe, Shuang Feng Foot Massage, King Spa, and Be Raw Food and Juice together.

Well, another semester is upon us.  It’s intimidating.  It’s challenging.  It’s a lot of work.  But we’re determined to make it through.  And when we do, we want to travel somewhere awesome and be clients at somebody else’s amazing spa location, eat amazing healthy food, meet amazing spa people, and see things we don’t always get to see.

Where should we go?  Post a comment below about places we could go and you will be entered to win $100 worth of spa services or products from I.M. Spa.

Places we’re considering going?  Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, New Mexico, and Colorado.

What kind of places do we want to visit?  Spas, hot springs, local independent stores, vegan or raw food restaurants, yoga studios, and other cool local attractions.

The last $100 giveaway we did only had 6 people participating.  Which is crazy, considering that there are thousands of people who come to I.M. Spa for services.  But that means the odds of winning are in your favor.

So post a comment below, and we’ll put your name in the drawing for the $100 giveaway.

Spa Girls Travel to Dallas!

To celebrate our sweet little business making it through the challenges of me being gone most of the time during my first semester at nursing school, we Spa Girls at I.M. Spa piled into the minivan and travelled to Dallas for a couple of days of Spa travel, foot massages, and raw food–my favorite things!

We Made It!
We Made It!

There was much discussion in the weeks before we left for Dallas about the fact that the spa we were going to required that you get naked and shower before getting into the hot tubs or advancing on to the saunas.  I had no idea that people felt such an aversion to locker room nudity, but then I am a veteran of Esalen and Breitenbush where co-ed nudity is common at hot spring bathing areas.  I think I’ll have to give an entire post to spa nudity in the future.  Needless to say, the spa girls survived the nudity and hopefully are minimally scarred for life.

Our first stop was in Frisco, just North of Dallas, where some of my family from Texas met with us for foot massages at this place called Shuang Feng Foot Massage.  I’ll fill in more pictures and details in future posts, but this is a quick rundown of where we went.  After foot massages we had lunch at Cosmic Cafe vegetarian restaurant.  By then it was 2 o’clock and we headed over to King Spa where we relaxed, steamed, sauna’d, and dozed (one of us studied–a lot) until midnight.  Yes you can easily spend 9 hours lounging in the spa.  We stayed at Hilton’s Doubletree in Farmer’s Branch and Lisa and I woke up in the morning, and rather than finding a yoga studio, decided to do a YogaGlo class before we headed to Be Raw–the only raw food restaurant in Dallas.  But man it was amazing!

After lunch at Be Raw we headed home to Fayetteville, Arkansas.  The girls watched Casanova with Heath Ledger and Pitch Perfect and we made it home by 7.  I was still full from lunch by the time I made it home.  A lovely weeked of spa travel–yum!

And the Winner Is…

I have to say this has been one of my favorite giveaways and I’d love to hear the stories behind some of these superpowers.  I know that the ‘needle in the haystack’ superpower is our friend’s modest way of saying she saves people’s lives by finding tiny little abnormalities of cancer on x-ray and ultrasound images.

Staci Earnst Bell is the winner of our Eminence giveaway drawing this time.  Her superpower is “Telekinesis!”  I seriously want to know the story behind that one.

What’s your superpower?

I.M. Spa Girls on the Road!

We had a staff meeting at I.M. Spa, my favorite workplace in the whole wide world, the Friday before I started classes at the University of Arkansas to study Nursing.  In addition to talking about what we needed to do to pull together while I was time challenged (to say the least) with classes, we also talked about what we would do to celebrate when we made it through to the end of Final Exams in May.  And no I won’t be completely finished then, I will still have 4 semesters to go.  We’ll have to travel after every semester I think.

All of us I.M. Spa girls are going to all pile into my minivan for a road trip to Visit Dallas to steam it up at King Spa and whatever other cool spa like places and Raw Food Restaurants we can discover.  I’m going to need some serious relaxation after working at the spa, being mom to my 4 boys, and going to school full time.

To make it more interesting though, we need suggestions for where to go on the way and while we’re there.  So if you reply on the bottom of this blog post with a great suggestion for where we can go and we’ll put your name in a drawing to win $100 worth of Spa Services at I.M. Spa, or, if the winner is not close to Fayetteville we’ll send them a $100 gift basket.  We’re interested in–Spas, great independent bodywork places, hot springs, Farmer’s Markets, Raw Food restaurants, yoga studios, independent businesses that make Dallas unique, and must sees.

For instance our friend Alpha, who is like the sun shining so bright, mentioned an amazing foot massage place in Frisco.  I’ve got to get with her to get the name of that place.  Suggestions like that are gold to us.

  • So here’s the deal:
  • get together your favorite places in Dallas, or in between Dallas and Fayetteville. Spas, independent businesses, hot springs, yoga studios, raw food restaurants, or things that you’ve heard about but haven’t been to yet. Each one can be a separate entry.
  • post them in a reply at the bottom of this blog post
  • or post them on our Facebook Page
  • or post them on our Twitter Account.  We’ll hashtag #itouchpeople on our trip so you can see what we’re up to.
  • we’ll draw for a winner when we SURVIVE Spring Semester at UofA and come back from Dallas!
  • look for our upcoming posts for pictures and a full report!
